Computerized Monitoring with Security Central

Thanks to great advances in modern security, your alarm is much more than an early warning detection system.

How does an alarm activation from your home or business reach our central station? A signal is transmitted either digitally via telephone lines or via a cellular signal to our computer network for decoding into the English language. All of this occurs in under 60 seconds. Our highly trained professionals take over from here.

The operator receiving the signal now has on his/her monitor the name and address of where the alarm originated as well as the type of alarm -- fire, burglar, temperature, etc. Special instructions also appear on the screen accompanied by emergency contact numbers and the persons who are to be notified of the alarm activation. Within seconds, the emergency notification number is automatically dialed. Security Central's operator has all the necessary information at his/her fingertips to relay to the dispatcher so help will be on its way to you in an instant.

With the rising concern over false alarms and the costly fines associated with them, your alarm dealer can assist you in deciding which signals should be verified before dispatch. With verification, Security Central operators contact the premise before dispatching the authorities to be certain an emergency condition actually exists. A passcode, selected by you, is required to cancel ANY alarm condition. Failure to give the correct code or no answer at the premise results in immediate dispatch. Of course, you can always call Security Central on a special 800 number provided to you by your alarm dealer to cancel dispatch, test your alarm or to obtain information regarding previous activations.

Other options for preventing false alarms include Two-Way Voice and Remote Video Monitoring. Both are great enhancements that not only aid in preventing false dispatches but can provide you with additional protection, too. Your alarm dealer can provide you with more information regarding these services or you can visit these on Security Central's website.

Alarm.com is a patented wireless communication and web technology that makes traditional security systems MORE SECURE, MORE RELIABLE, MORE USEFUL and MORE INFORMATIVE. Alarm.com's technology is fully compatible with GE Security control panels. By combining an Alarm.com Wireless Module with a GE home or business security system, you get the most modern and cost-effective security and monitoring solution available today.

Customers can monitor and control their security systems from anywhere through the Alarm.com website: change the status of your system, turn on lights, set up user access codes and more. Real-time text-message and e-mail alerts mean that you always stay informed about what's happening when you're away from your home or business.

Because all signals (alarms and other activity information) are transmitted WIRELESSLY from your GE Security control panel through the Alarm.com Wireless Module, you don't have to worry about intruders disabling your security system by cutting the phone line. Even better, if you're one of the millions of customers who have dropped their landline and switched to cell-phone-only or Voice-over-IP, your Alarm.com security system will still work reliably!

A traditional home security system serves primarily to protect a property against intruders by sounding an alarm and/or notifying a central monitoring station if a door, window or other sensor device detects activity when the system is armed. As such, it provides a valuable line of defense that can protect a home and save lives in the event of an attempted break-in. But Alarm.com believes that a good security system should always be “on duty” even when disarmed. In addition to reporting alarms when in an armed state, it should track all sensor activity information around the clock.

That’s why our systems provide “normal activity monitoring” in addition to the standard alarm notification features offered by most security systems. Normal activity monitoring means that the security system receives and reports all activity detected by the installed sensors, whether or not the panel is armed. Through a web interface, users can view a 60-day system history that shows all sensor events such as door, window, or motion sensor activity, as well as system events such as arming/disarming, low battery, or power failure. Alarm.com users can also choose to be notified by email or text message if the panel reports any of these events.

The applications for normal activity monitoring are endless. Protect your family from potential in-home dangers by using micro door sensors to report any activity in certain off-limits areas such as a gun safe, liquor cabinet, or medicine drawer. Receive instant notification if the door to the master bedroom is opened when the babysitter is watching the kids. Install an Alarm.com system in the house of an elderly loved one so that you can check in to make sure everything is ok without invading that person’s privacy. Or log into Alarm.com while you’re away to make sure the neighbor entered your house to feed the dog.
